Justin Bieber Developing a Movie with Will Smith

Published by Jeff Leins on September 19, 2010
Teen singing sensation Justin Bieber is teaming up with Hollywood superstar Will Smith on a “top secret” film project.
Teen Vogue recently sat down with the 16-year-old to discuss his current tour and “Bieber fever” where they learned about this upcoming feature in development at Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. Apparently, Smith and Bieber met while recording “Never Say Never,” the theme to The Karate Kid remake, with young Jaden Smith, and they began discussing a starring vehicle that “may have some similarities to Justin’s life.” His manager, Scooter Braun, was quick to clarify it’s not his own 8 Mile.
Bieber is set to making his acting debut on the season premiere of “CSI” this Thursday where he’ll play a “badass” named James McCann in a two-episode arc. The profile piece said he worked with an acting coach for the first time who gave him brilliant advice like “You have to feel the character. You have to be Jason.” There are plans for her to join them on the tour later this fall for more regular sessions.
Frankly, Bieber sounds like a bit of a brat, telling his manager during the interview, “I want to be the lead star in a movie. Can we make that happen, Scooter?” To which his manager replied cautiously, “I think everyone wants that.” Then Bieber stared into Braun’s eyes and said, “Yo, but why don’t we do it… soon?”
Step Up 3D director Jon Chu is already directing a 3D concert film that will include Bieber’s story, behind-the-scenes footage, and performances from the sold out Madison Square Garden. Paramount has scheduled that for Valentine’s Day weekend 2011.
